Hi, my name is Mercedes Perez, and I am the laboratory manager of the Stubbendieck lab, where I have worked for the last two years. I am a molecular biologist with extensive international experience, having worked in academic institutions in Spain, France, and the United States. I hold a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from the University of Seville and Master’s-level studies at the University of Western Brittany.
Before my current role, I managed a laboratory at the University of Texas at Austin’s Institute for Cellular and Molecular Biology, where I researched DNA damage repair and genome stability. In my current position, I oversee all laboratory operations, including budgeting, purchasing, equipment maintenance, and comprehensive student training. I also mentor students in molecular genetics and cloning techniques. Furthermore, I lead independent research projects, which recently culminated in a submitted publication describing previously uncharacterized bacterial species. I am committed to contributing to innovative research and fostering a productive scientific environment.
